A little bit about me...

I have been working as a Fashion Designer for some years now and have always been interested in textured embellishments, from small decorations to all over fabric techniques. As you can see my designs often incorporate my love of texture.

My style of texture decoration comes from combining both conventional and unconventional disciplines. For example free-machine embroidery can be great on its own, but why not mix it with another discipline like; felting, embroidery or weaving? There is a ‘Gallery’ link above, where I have some of my work displayed, along with tips on how to achieve certain finishes. Please take a look, I hope these help to inspire…

Summary of my gallery

One thing I have always been asked when people look at my work is ‘Where can I learn new techniques like this and how can I find suppliers?’ As I have often dyed and printed my own fabrics, threads and trimmings answering this was never easy. So in September 2006, I decided to open my own small business, trading through eBay primarily. My mission is to supply textile arts and crafts to like minded people.

In January 2007, I opened my first craft store, Sara’s Texture Crafts where I supply Beginners with kits to share new techniques and for those more advanced; kits, fabrics, trims and equipment to assist them in their own textile projects. To see my current offer, select the 'Craft Shop' page above, or go straight there by pressing the link below.

After receiving lots of enquires and requests for finished artworks, clothing accessories and jewellery, from my craft shop customers I decided to work to fill this new gap. May 2007 saw the opening of two key on-line stores; one at Etsy and at the other at DaWanda. These are my Boutique Stores.

In October 2007, I opened a further store at Café Press. This is a merchandise store offering apparel (clothing), homeware, notebooks and accessories baring the graphic work of Sara’s Texture Crafts.

While 2007 saw my on-line ventures expanding, 2008 is the year where I will be expanding into craft markets, fairs and exhibitions. I'm kicking off the year with my first major exhibition at 'Stitch & Craft', Olympia London in March. You will find an exclusive offer of Boutique items hand created just for the occasion, as well as selection of my craft shop items. If you would like to keep track of where I will be showing and pop along to say 'Hi', please check out my 'Event Diary'... the link is at the top of the page.

There is opportunity for me to also add teaching workshops and classes to Sara's Texture Crafts too and I hope to be able to bring you news of this soon...

MAKING!

So what else do I get up to when I’m not hard at work on Sara’s Texture Crafts? Well, I currently review craft books for The Textile Directory and I am a Contributing Editor to the on-line magazine ‘DIY City Magazine’. You can find full links and articles on my blog.

If you are having problems finding me on any of these sites then please use the ‘Email Me!’ link above to contact me.

Until I have more news – keep creating!

Sara x
